Artist Statement
My work portrays the intimate stories that influence who I am, what I stand for, and what I experience as a queer, Latina woman. Filmmaking is a dance and I am intrigued by every possibility that exists within the realm of these two art forms as they continue to evolve and change as the world does. In my practice, I aim to embody the camera as an extension of the dancing body. Drawing on my background as a dancer and mover, I translate physical knowledge into my approach to filming. Just as the body serves as the instrument of storytelling in dance, I approach the camera as an active participant in the choreography, a dancer in its own right. Through this lens, I strive to create an embodied experience where audiences can feel the rhythm, flow, and connection of movement. My goal is to immerse viewers fully into the world of dance films, allowing them not just to watch, but to experience the dance and connections.
